First Nations Help Desk Rather than merely taking a reactive approach to assisting with technical problems as they arise, the FNHD has taken a proactive approach to encouraging First Nation educational activities using the internet. Monthly contests, in-service training, web page hosting, Aboriginal language initiative, and "publishing" students' work are all examples of internet-based activities that havebeen embraced. 47 Maillard Street, Sydney, NS, B1S 2M9 Micmac-Maliseet Institute (UNB) A resource for the First Nations of the Maritime region, located at the University of New Brunswick. The Institute offers UNB academic programs for Aboriginal students and engages in a variety of other activities, including curriculum development for the public schools and research and publication in thefields of Native Studies and Aboriginal Education. The Institute also maintains a Micmac-Maliseet Resource Collection, which is part of the UNB Library system. The Institute staff places a high priority on helping Aboriginal students with their university studies. c/o University of New Brunswick, Faculty of Education, Mi'kmaw Kina'matnewey Representing nine Mi'kmaw communities in Nova Scotia, Mi'kmaw Kina'matnewey serves as their collective voice for education.
